Maximizing Scope in Minimal Time

This May, YUNIQUE PICTURES (YP) successfully delivered premium music video production in China for Vietnamese superstar Chi Pu’s latest release, ‘Mirror‘. Reuniting with our longtime collaborator, the visionary Singaporean director Choann, YP provided full production services for the project—from initial location scouting and pre-production to on-site execution.

The scale was massive: we mobilised a core crew of over 40 professionals, coordinating complex multi-location moves spanning Beijing and Zhangjiakou.

The timeline was razor-thin: pre-production commenced in late April 2026, filming wrapped in late May within 48 hours, and the music video was officially released to critical acclaim on June 6th.

“While working with top-tier talent is always a thrill, the logistical challenge we faced was nothing short of a marathon.”

The Challenge: 9 Worlds in 2 Days

Director Choann envisioned nine distinct visual worlds in this music video. Each reflects a different side of the artist’s identity — to blend her imagined past lives with her real experiences.

The nine distinct worlds ranged from a futuristic city to an alien planet, to a European castle, to a lost-world forest — each starkly different from the last, with even more realms beyond.

However, the constraints were daunting:

  • Total Timeline: A mere 15 days for pre-production, 2 days for shooting, and 15 days for post.
  • The Location Puzzle: We needed to film 9 drastically different settings within those 2 shooting days.

The math didn’t lie: moving between distant locations would eat up the clock. Therefore, we needed a strategy to find diverse looks without losing time to transit.

The Solution: Strategic Clustering & Logistical Precision

In order to film 9 worlds in 48 hours for this music video, we deployed a strict “Hub-and-Spoke” model, splitting the logistics into two distinct phases.

Day 1: The Urban Hub

We locked a primary location capable of 5 set transformations. All urban exteriors were confined to a 15-minute radius to eliminate transit time.

Day 2: The Remote Cluster

We executed a cross-province shoot spanning Beijing’s mountains and Hebei’s countryside. In a single day, we captured 2 distinct landscapes and 3 different settings through strategic routing.

Zero-Downtime Schedule

We maximized efficiency by parallelizing workflows. While the crew captured “Golden Hour” exteriors, the art department simultaneously prepped indoor sets, ensuring zero idle time.

Execution is Everything

In music video production, creativity isn’t just about what happens behind the lens; it’s about the invisible architecture built by the production team. By turning logistical constraints into a strategic advantage, YUNIQUE PICTURES delivered 9 unique worlds in just 48 hours.

We are honored to have collaborated with Chi Pu and grateful for the trust of Director Choann. Seeing the final piece come together was a true highlight for the team.
